50:50 Vision For Gender Equity

The Australian Local Government Womens Association Victorian Branch Congratulates the following Victorian Councils on their achievement of A Bronze Award in the 50:50 Vision Councils for Gender Equity Awards and Accreditation Project announced at the ALGWA National Conference in November 2010.

This important program is the first national accreditation and awards program which encourages councils across Australia to address gender equity issues within the organisation and among their elected representatives.

The program has been designed to be accessed by all councils, regardless of their size, location and progress on gender equity. Councils can apply for accreditation at three levels – starting with Bronze and working up to the prestigious, peer reviewed Gold Award.

The first level of accreditation in the 50:50 Vision Councils for Gender Equity Program Bronze Awards, presented at the ALGWA National Conference in November 2010 recognised Councils who have achieved the following:-

  • Conducted a self-assessment of staff and elected representative gender ratios;
  • Outlined at least one project they will undertake to address gender equity issues; and
  • Nominated a 50:50 Vision champion to carry the program within the organisation.
