The Australian Local Women’s Association (Victorian Branch) (ALGWA Vic) welcomes the nomination of 11 women who are putting their hands up as candidates in the upcoming elections for the positions of President and Board members of the Victorian Local Government Association (VLGA) 2017 elections.

It’s a busy time in Local Government, with both the VLGA and the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) holding their elections at the beginning of 2017.The close of nominations for the VLGA was on Tuesday 31 January at 5.00 pm and the close of nominations for the MAV election will be on 10 February 2017 at 4.00 pm (see below websites for all details)

“ALGWA Vic applauds the 11 women Councillor and non-Councillor candidates who have taken the step to nominate for the VLGA 2017 elections” said President Helen Coleman.

“All the women Councillor candidates are currently members of ALGWA Vic, either as individuals or through their Council, and it’s great to see so many candidates overall” said Helen Coleman

We encourage all women who are interested, elected or working in Local Government, to consider joining ALGWA Vic, to enjoy the support, encouragement and benefits other women have experienced since our inception 53 years ago.

ALGWA Vic does not endorse any one candidate and would like to wish all candidates the very best of luck in the upcoming elections, and thank them for standing up to contribute to make the local government sector even better.
