In 1989 the Victorian Branch of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association established an Annual Study Award to encourage and assist women in the Local Government sector in furthering their education.

2013 was the 50th anniversary of the founding of this Branch of ALGWA, and the committee worked on a number of activities throughout the year to celebrate and commemorate the event.

The Australian Local Government Womens Association Victorian Branch Congratulates the following Victorian Councils on their achievement of A Bronze Award in the 50:50 Vision Councils for Gender Equity Awards and Accreditation Project announced at the ALGWA National Conference in November 2010.

At the ALGWA Biennial National Conference held in April, the Chair of ALGWA’s National Steering Committee launched the ALGWA Report ’50:50 Vision – A National Program for Gender Equity in Local Government’.
